CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDES | FICTION #2

It’s that time of the year! The nights are darker, the Christmas coffeeshop cups are out, the John Lewis advert is out… of course, Christmas. Started your Christmas shopping? Finished it? Or haven’t even started? Don’t worry,  I’ve decided to do Christmas gift guides to give you inspiration for a Christmas present for your loved ones.

Yesterday kicked off the Christmas gift guides with the first four picks of fiction. If you missed them, you can check them out here. When compiling these guides, I felt that four picks of fiction just simply wasn’t enough. So, today, for day two, here are four more picks of fiction:

  1. Lee Child – Past Tense: I think this is going to be a big bestseller this Christmas. This is the 23rd(!) book in the Jack Reacher series and in Past Tense, Jack Reacher goes to his father’s hometown and starts to find out about his, and his father’s past. But of course, there’s danger ahead… A perfect read for Jack Reacher fans this Christmas, or an introduction to the world of Jack Reacher for crime/thriller fans. Also, in Waterstones, for that extra special Christmas magic, you can also get a special edition with yellow sprayed edges.
  2. Ian Rankin – In A House Of Lies: Just like Lee Child, Ian Rankin is no stranger when it comes to literature and he’s back with another instalment in the John Rebus series. This book sounds like a great thriller to read over Christmas. Everyone has secrets to hide, especially when a missing private investigator is found but decades letter, the case is reopened and can John Rebus help find out the truth? Another great, edge-of-your-seat book for must-have thriller fans this Christmas.
  3. Robert Galbraith – Lethal White: Another detective, another series! This is the latest in the Cormoran Strike series. In the last gift guide, I talked about how good it feels to read a big and long book over the festive period and this is another massive book to get through! The story starts off when a young man goes to Strike to ask for a help he saw happen as a child. Strike and Robin go on a journey to find out the truth. This promises to be a thrilling, exciting read in the Strike series…
  4. Liane Moriarty – Nine Perfect Strangers: A change now from established crime series and a new book from Liane Moriarty, the author of the bestselling Big Little Lies. In this brand new, bestselling book, Moriarty takes us into a health resort where nine complete strangers arrive to leave their problems outside. But once there, these nine perfect strangers have no idea what’s going to happen next… A perfect read for fans of Moriarty’s novels or fans of comedy/drama/thriller all rolled into one!

And that’s that for fiction! There are so many brilliant works of fiction this year that I found it hard to get them down to just eight. There are a lot more reviews on my blog if you are looking for some more inspiration. Have any caught your eye for a Christmas present this year? If so, do let me know! I’d love to hear from you. If you haven’t already, you can sign up to my newsletter which will be going out next month! You can sign up here.

Again, I hope you enjoyed these picks of fiction and added a little inspiration to you for Christmas presents this year. Tomorrow, at 6pm, it’s the first four picks of memoir and I think (of course) that there’s some great reads in the mix. See you tomorrow.

Thank you,

Corey.
